THE Executive Secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr Muhammed Goje, launched the distribution of food and other items on Tuesday in Buni Yadi and Gulani local government areas.
Goje said he was directed by the Yobe governor, MaiMala Buni to identify, profile and distribute food and other items to 5,000 beneficiaries including returnees, widows, women-heading households and elderly people.

“Each beneficiary is entitled to one 50kg bag of rice, five-litre cooking oil, and guinea corn,” he said.
Goje urged the beneficiaries to use the items personally rather than selling them in the market.
He called on international non-governmental organisations and development partners to bring in more humanitarian materials for donation to the less privileged in the state.
Amina Wakili, Binta Kolomi and Baba Ali were some of the beneficiaries who expressed their gratitude to the state government for the kind gesture.
They described it as timely and very beneficial to them.
NAN reports that the area suffered some of the worst brutal attacks of the terrorist group Boko Haram with the invasion and killing of school children in the Buni Yadi boys college.
