…inaugurates task force
The National Association of Scrap and Waste Dealers of Nigeria (NASWDEN) has inaugurated an anti-vandal taskforce to combat acts of vandalism across the country.
This development, the association said, was to purge miscreants who are disguising as scrap dealers out of the association, with a view to maintaining its integrity and reputation.
Some miscreants who pretend to be scrap dealers were alleged to be involved in vandalism of national assets in some parts of the country, thereby bringing disrepute to the association of scrap dealers.
Speaking during the inauguration of the task force in Lagos State, the acting president of the association, Alhaji Ibrahim Soja, said “The association came up with the formation of the task force on vandalism because of the bad reputation that the activities of vandals have brought to bona fide and legitimate scrap dealers in the country.”
He assured that henceforth there will be total war against any illegal operation of scrap dealers working in any part of the country.
Soja, therefore, charged scrap dealers across the country to perfect their membership registration and steer clear of illegal dealings.
While warning members of the task force not to indulge in extortion, intimidation, and favouritism in the cause of discharging their duties, he maintained that no effort would be spared to protect the image and reputation of NASWDEN.
Soja stated: “The formation of the NASWDEN taskforce is a critical requirement not only to checkmate activities of criminals within the association but also to curb illegal ticketing that has been sabotaging the association’s progress.”
