US election: Five power players who funded Trump’s campaign

Donald Trump’s reelection campaign received significant funding from various power players, particularly from the fossil fuel industry.

Here are five key contributors to Donald Trump’s campaign:

1. Woody Johnson: The billionaire owner of the New York Jets and a longtime Republican donor.

2. Timothy Mellon: An heir to the Mellon banking fortune and a significant contributor to Republican causes.

3. Harold Hamm: A leading figure in the US oil and gas industry and a key energy advisor to Trump.

4. Mariam Adelson: The widow of Sheldon Adelson, a casino magnate and major Republican donor.

5. Elon Musk: Business magnate and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, also contributed to Trump’s campaign.

It’s worth noting that the majority of funding for the 2024 election, over 65%, comes from political action committees (PACs).

Additionally, individual candidates have drawn over $2.0 billion, while party committees raised just over $929.9 million.
