AHEAD of next month general elections, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 11, comprising Oyo, Osun and Ondo States, Mr Aminchi Baraya on Monday tasked policemen to uphold high professional standard during the exercise.
He specifically implored policemen who will be on duty during the election to desist from any act capable tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police.

“Basically, what the Public expect from the police all the time is ensuring Peace and Security for people to go about their business but in this case, the Police is going to provide an enabling environment on election day for the voters to exercise their franchise peacefully and return to their homes”.
In his remark, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye averred that he expects a “better, credible and wonderful performance from the Police during the forthcoming elections.”
His words, “the workshop is one of the things the force is doing to ensure that officers and men of the Nigeria Police are well-equipped knowledge wise in the discharge of their duties, the way they are expected to during the forthcoming elections.
“It is a Capacity enhancement Programme aimed at improving the knowledge of all the Officers and Men of the Force for better Service delivery,” Olafimihan said.
The Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Olusegun Agbaje who was also a guest at the programme advised politicians not to compromise anybody before, during and after the election.
