Undistributed dividends of democracy

Corrupt politicians have done their worst to make Nigeria, Africa’s greatest economy, become the world’s poverty capital. These corrupt politicians who have a grip on power and own a section of the press also control party machinery and huge financial resources, usually stolen dividends of democracy held back from the poor and vulnerable through greed.

They seem to be unstoppable. Now, they write about democratic struggles. What can anyone do to push the uninformed to action in order to claim back their stolen dividends of democracy? The problem is the more one remains uninformed, the more vulnerable one is to manipulation.

Uninformed citizens tend to trust politically ambitious individuals who are far more concerned about power, wealth and prestige than they are about their welfare. What are they teaching the youths about probity?
