It has been observed that the Under – 5 children morbidity and death rate by facility data generated from 475 health facilities across the state supported by IHP has declined by 50% .
The observation was made by the representative of USAID-IHP Integrated Health Programme, Dr Samson Adeyemi during the opening of a two-day pause and reflect learning session held at Hazibal Hotel, Bauchi.
He explained that the death rate has continue to decline by 50% based on the data facility based as at the third quarter from April – June, 2023.
Samson Adeyemi added that USAID IHP is working with the state government to improve routine use of Vitamin A at the health facilities apart from the support during maternal, newborn and child health week.
He further observed that lack of coordination and planning activities among stakeholders, regular dissolution of state cabinet and inadequate budget request, release to health sector are major challenges hampering health sector in the state.
He also noted with concern the non implementation of the Governor’s approval for the commencement and sustenance of deduction for formal section contribution to BASHCMA especially by Civil Servants in the state.
Samson Adeyemi however reiterated the commitment of USAID-IHP to supporting the state in the effort to improve the heath sector to an acceptable standard.
