Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable citizens as widows and orphans benefitted from scholarships and empowerment support in Okeagbe Akoko, Ondo State.

Speaking through his representative, Hon. Fafunmilade Adetilewa, at the empowerment programme held on Tuesday, the minister said the initiative was conceived to ease the burden on widows and orphans while promoting self-reliance and inclusive development.

He urged Nigerians to remain prayerful and continue to support leaders at all levels in their efforts to deliver good governance.

According to him, collective prayers and support are crucial for the peace and progress of Ondo State and the country at large, stressing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requires the goodwill and cooperation of citizens as he works to reposition the nation.

As part of the intervention, several orphans were awarded scholarships to support their education, while widows received cash grants, industrial machines, and other work tools to enable them to establish or expand small-scale businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Tunji-Ojo noted that President Tinubu has, within three years, recorded notable strides in implementing the Renewed Hope agenda, calling on Nigerians to sustain their support and participate actively in the democratic process ahead of 2027.

The minister’s mother, Madam Yinka Tunji-Ojo, expressed appreciation to the people for their unwavering support for her son, assuring them that he would continue to prioritise grassroots engagement and interventions targeted at the less privileged.

In her remarks, the wife of the Olubaka of Oka Akoko, Oba (Dr.) Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, OON, encouraged continued prayers for the minister, noting that such support would further inspire him to do more for his constituents and the nation.

Traditional rulers at the event included the Owa of Ogbagi Akoko, Oba Victor Adetona, and the Ajana of Afa, Okeagbe Akoko, Oba Mofolorunso Adegboyega Arasanyin.
Beneficiaries of the programme expressed gratitude for the scholarships and empowerment packages, describing the initiative as timely and impactful on their lives and livelihoods.
