Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have had to put on a facemask on a daily basis. Apart from the discomfort of breathing properly, the mask does not allow easy identification of people. I want to know if I can use a face shield instead of a mask.

Kafayat (by SMS)

The face mask is considered to be the number one form of protection because it can fully cover your nose and mouth and fits securely on the face unlike a shield which has open spaces underneath the chin and around the ears. However, research has shown that face shields are beneficial if someone cannot wear a mask. Unfortunately, with a face shield, prolonged exposure to an infected atmosphere reduces the amount of protection. If someone combines their mask with a face shield, it can provide added protection. My advice is to get used to wearing a face mask. The discomfort you complained of is nothing compared to the adverse effects of a Covid infection.
