It is no understatement to say that Nigeria is currently in its worst economic crisis since the return to civil rule in 1999. The cost of living has hit the roofs and the standard of living of Nigerians is abysmally poor.
Workers in many states have not been paid for the past six or seven months, and millions of families are in agony and despair.
The non-receipt of salaries by workers is having very adverse effects of market women and their families. Even artisans are lamenting. It is time government at all levels worked harder in tackling the economic crisis.
Government policies that discourage the operations of a free market economy should be discarded. Government should stop regulating the exchange rate or trying to fix the prices of goods and services.
