OPERATIVES of the Lagos State Task Force over the weekend, during an over-night raid operation, nabbed another 62 miscreants and hoodlums around Oshodi and its environ.
Chairman of Agency, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, disclosed that the mid-night raid operations was part of the on-going efforts aimed at flushing out miscreants and other criminal elements out of Oshodi and the state at large.
Egbeyemi disclosed further that the Agency acted on the directives of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi, who he said expressed concern over the spate of criminal activities in some parts of the state, especially around Oshodi and other identified areas such as Mushin, Fadeyi, Agege, Apapa, Lagos Island, Obalende, Oyingbo, Dopemu, among others.
CSP Egbeyemi confirmed that no weapon was found on these arrested 62 miscreants and hoodlums but stated that there were strong indications that they were part of the criminals who had been terrorising the entire area particularly those attacking motorists on top Oshodi bridge during peak hours.
“We got to the area as early as 2 am, it was an eye-sore to have found these miscreants and hoodlums under the bridge at Oshodi in such odd hours walking aimlessly while some were also caught smoking Indian hemp popularly called ‘Marijuana.’
“Yes, many of these arrested miscreants have different tattoos on their arms indicating they belong to a particular sect or cult. While many are chain smokers, others robbed residents and pedestrians of their valuables such as phones, wallets and pieces of jewellery both early morning and late night.”
The Chairman added that these arrested miscreants and hoodlums had been screened while the under-age ones were referred to the juvenile homes for rehabilitation, adding that most of these ‘young miscreant’ who are between 12 to 17 years are products of broken homes.
Egbeyemi, however, hinted that after the completion of all the on-going projects by the government around Oshodi, there would no longer be any hideouts for criminals to unleash terror on innocent members of the public again.

Today I was in my room just reviewing this county’s problem and how come our economy has plunged abysmally. how all the revered institution of the world are rating us lowly. these days, there’s no rating or ranking that has been positive about Nigeria. from the HSBC to THE ECONOMIST. to the World Bank to TI (Transparency international). just name it. every rating and ranking have been very very damning and has prophesied doom in the coming years, if we should continue in this trajectory. and in my lay man knowledge, I said to myself. that, aside the very ill-informed policy of PMB that plunged us into recession and has destroyed our economy, the myopic hunger of building up a big foreign reserve is also killing the naira and by extension our economy. Mr President is so fixated on building a huge foreign reserve to the detriment of our exchange rate. what is the sense of having several billions of dollars, when your own local currency is suffering from inconsistent exchange rate. the naira must be stabilised before the craze about building a huge reserve. little did I know that, the CBN governor held exactly the same view. in fact in a speech delivered yesterday, he made exactly the same argument. that, we must stabilise our naira before trying to build a massive reserve. Mr President stop killing our economy. you are running people out of business.
