
A human rights lawyer, Festus Keyamo, and the former National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olusola Alex Oke made the list of the 30 Senior Lawyers that were conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) released by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC).
The newly appointed Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Â Hadizatu Uwani. Mustapha who doubles as the LPPC”s Secretary announced the list in Abuja yesterday said a total of 156 senior lawyers applied for the rank, 72 names were short-listed, out of which 30 were successful.
The conferment of the prestigious rank on the senior lawyers yesterday after a three say meeting of the Legal Practitioners and Privileges Committee held in Abuja brings a total number of‎ Senior Advocates of Nigeria to 481.
The list of the 30 successful ‎candidates, which has four academicians and one female also, has the names of the Director General of the Nigeria Institute of Advance Legal Studies (NIALS), Prof Adedeji Adekunle, the Attorney-General of Kwara state, Kamardeen Adeyemi Ajibade and the former Director-General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Prof Adebambo Adepoju.
Others on the list of the senior lawyers to be conferred with the SAN rank, according to the Chief Registrar of the Supreme court are, Chubuike Nwokeukewu, Johnnie Egwuonwu, Bert Chukwuneta Igwilo, Sylvester Emenike Elema, Ikenna Victor Egbuna, Wilcox Abereton, Micheal Alliyu, Akinlolu Oluyinka Osibanjo and Francis Forum Egele.
The rest are Prof Enefiok Essien, Prof Sadiq Sylvester Shikyl, Nasser Abdu Dangiri, Oluwatoyin Ajoke Bashorun, Emeka Peter Okpoko, Sani Hussani Garun-Gabbas, Abdul Atadoga Ibrahim and John Olusegun Odubela.
Others are, Gboyega Oyewole, Joshua Yusuf Musa, Ibrahim Mohammed, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, Oyetola Oshobi, Sulaiman Usman, Kehinde Olamide Ogunwumiju and Chisonu Igbomuje Okpoko.
The Chief Registrar who congratulated the senior lawyers for their success, said the new SANs will be sworn in September, 2017.
