The initiative was unveiled during a momentous visit to Jos, the vibrant capital city of Plateau, characterised by its burgeoning economic prospects and rich cultural diversity.
Group Managing Director of Sujimoto Group, Dr Sijibomi Ogundele recounted the significance of this endeavor, highlighting the transformational impact it aims to achieve.
The genesis of this partnership traces back to a compelling letter penned by Sujimoto Group to Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, expressing the vision to establish the Sujimoto Farm Estate — a visionary project poised to revolutionize agriculture in Plateau.
Reflecting on his visit to Jos, Dr Sijibomi Ogundele reminisced about the valley of prosperity and stunning landscapes that rekindled childhood memories, underscoring the historical and personal significance of this initiative.
The Sujimoto delegation was warmly received at Yakubu Gowon Airport by Jerry Malo, a notable entrepreneur celebrated for promoting indigenous agro-based machinery. Together, they embarked on a tour of the city, marveling at the state’s infrastructure development under Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s leadership.
During a strategic meeting at the state house, Dr Ogundele articulated the group’s commitment to revolutionizing Nigeria’s agriculture sector through the establishment of the Sujimoto Rice Farm Estate. The project’s vision encompasses a sprawling rice farm spanning 30,000 hectares, equipped with a state-of-the-art rice mill boasting a production capacity of 100 tonnes per hour.
Governor Mutfwang echoed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the imperative of proactive measures to combat hunger and bolster agricultural productivity. Plateau’s fertile land and conducive climate offer an ideal canvas for realizing this ambitious agricultural venture.
The collaboration extends to various stakeholders, including Mr Yayi, a political entrepreneur, and Deputy Governor Josephine Chundung Piyo, underscoring a unified commitment to positioning Plateau State as an agricultural powerhouse.
