A housewife, Farira Isah, has told a Sharia Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, that her former husband, Abubakar Hamza, said he cannot provide food for six out of their nine children.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Farira told the court that she and Abubakar were divorced on August 3 and that the court granted her custody of six out of their nine children.
“Abubakar told me that he cannot feed the six. I want the court to order him to take up that responsibility by paying N6,000 monthly for each child.
“I also pray the court to stop him from coming to my house every morning and night,” she said.
In his response, Abubakar who resides in Kaduna, prayed the court to grant him custody of the six children.
“I want to take care of them. I have three living with me already. She is not capable of training them well,” Abubakar said.
The judge, Murtala Nasir, after listening to the parties, ordered the defendant to bring witnesses on his claims that his former wife cannot train their children.
Nasir ordered the defendant to stop visiting his former wife pending judgment in the case.
He thus adjourned the case.
