The chairmen of the Teaching Service Commissions (TESCOM) in the six Southwest states of Nigeria are proposing to form a regional body to drive teaching profession and education development in the geopolitical zone.
Chairman of the Osun State TESCOM, Mr Temitope Mustapha Adeyemi, gave this hint in a chat with Nigerian Tribune on Friday.

Southwest zone, he said, is known for always taking the lead and setting the pace and standard for other states in socio-economic development across various sectors of the economy.
“So, the regional body, when it takes off will share resources and opportunities among members, drive capacity building for teachers and non-teaching staff and also foster growth and development in our region, among other responsibilities,” Mr Adeyemi explained.
He added, “We strongly believe that the forum will also create healthy competition among member states.”
He noted that discussions concerning the modus operandi of the forum are expected to conclude soon to give birth to the forum.
