The newly-inaugurated Sokoto State Executive Council at its maiden meeting has approved over two billion naira projects.
The Commissioner of Information, Alh. Isa Bajini Galadanci, who led commissioners of Education, Alhaji Bello Abubakar, Environment, Sagir Attahiru Bafarawa and that of Agriculture, Muhammad Arzika Tureta, stated this at end of the Council meeting held at the council chamber, Government House, Sokoto.
He added that the meeting which was presided over by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal approved over 1.9 billion Naira for the purchase of school furniture across the state. The contract was awarded to Sokoto Furniture Makers Association.
Similarly, the council also approved the sum of over N230 million for the purchase of grains to be distributed and sold to people in the state at subsidised rates.
The council further approved the sum of N156 million for the purchase of two payloaders to the Ministry of Environment for the improvement of sanitation activities in the state.
