In fulfilment of its social responsibilities, Skyline University Nigeria has inaugurated a training workshop for 50 proprietors of private schools in Jigawa state, focusing on organizational leadership in education and quality strategies.
During the opening ceremony held at the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) secretariat in Dutse, Professor Ajith Kumar V.V, the Vice Chancellor of Skyline University, expressed the university’s commitment to collaborate with stakeholders to enhance the quality of the education system in Jigawa state.
Professor Ajith Kumar V.V emphasised the university’s dedication to contributing to the development of the country by providing skills training for teachers in states such as Kano, Jigawa, and Bauchi.
He highlighted the university’s objective in Jigawa, stating, “Our aim is to engage with private school proprietors and assist them in developing effective strategies to deliver quality education to local students.” Professor Ajith Kumar V.V emphasized the importance of universities working closely with schools to ensure students receive the necessary skills for success.
The Vice-Chancellor assured ongoing collaboration with the Jigawa state government, not only in training students but also in applying the acquired knowledge for the nation’s development.
Dr. Ya’u Ahmad Sara, the Director General, expressed the Jigawa state government’s readiness to partner with Skyline University to improve the quality of education.
Dr. Sara urged private school proprietors in Jigawa to focus on instilling good character in their students and commended Skyline University for selecting Jigawa for this training initiative.
Sarada Maganti, the Director of Academic Support Services at Skyline University, emphasized the university’s intent to strengthen its relationship with the state government as it marked its fifth year.
Maganti advocated for education with good character and encouraged private school proprietors to focus on nurturing the next generation with essential pillars such as vision, character, and values.
Comrade Ojo O. Felix, Chairman of the Association of Private Schools Owners of Nigeria (APSON) Jigawa state chapter, expressed gratitude to Skyline University for the initiative and commended the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi, for allocating over 35 per cent of the state’s 2024 budget to education.
Chief Ojo Felix called on the state government to involve private school owners in teaching and learning matters, especially in government-sponsored teacher training programs, and appealed for land allocation to facilitate the expansion of private schools for a more conducive learning environment.
