Sit-at-home: How we encouraged Imo workers to ignore order – Head of Service

The Imo State Head of Service, Mr. Raymond Ucheoma has stated the reason that civil servants in the state go to work daily including Mondays in spite of the sit-at-home order.

He revealed that the government has always encouraged and created a conducive environment for workers to report to duties like every other working day without any fear of molestation from anybody.

He said that the provision of buses to convey workers from their homes to their workplace also bring them back is one of the ways adopted by the Government to tackle the means of transportation difficulties of the workers.

Dismissing what he described as false information and mere rumour being peddled in the social media over plot by Government in power to sack civil servants in the state because of sit-at-home order, Mr Ucheoma insisted that there is no truth in the information.

He said: “last Monday we were in the office encouraging workers to come to work. The government buses were busy carrying workers to their offices and back to their homes”.

He told Nigerian Tribune in a phone chat that such information is baseless and there is no iota of truth while advising Imolites to ignore such and go about their usual business.

On the recent increase of minimum wage for workers in the state to N40,000, the HoS applauded the governor for taking such steps to encourage workers in the state.

He recalled that the Governor equally on the same day promised to give food to the workers, give scholarship and bursary awards as well as procure more vehicles for easy movement of civil servants in the state.

Ucheoma also reviewed the governor’s promise to bring Imo Transport Company ITC to a greater strength to enable it compete favourably in the transport business and break Monopoly of some transport owners.
