The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Barr. Neda Imausen, has endorsed the recent Supreme Court ruling that removed Julius Abure from his position as National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
Imasuen, who was elected to the Senate under the LP banner, praised the Supreme Court’s decision during a media chat with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Benin.
He criticized Abure, alleging that he ran the LP like a personal estate and lacked genuine concern for the party’s interests.
“I also welcome the Supreme Court judgment that sacked Barrister Julius Abure as the national chairman of the Labour Party in Nigeria. A lot has happened within the Labour Party, and it’s very unfortunate. Abure, during his chairmanship, didn’t genuinely care about the Labour Party; it became more of a personal affair.

“Instead of preserving the party, it seemed he was intent on internal strife and tearing the party apart. Such behavior wasn’t what I expected from someone in his position.
“He has dragged the party through numerous court battles, and now that the Supreme Court has settled it, it’s a welcome development.
“But the question now is, where do we go from here? Someone raised this with me earlier today. I hope it’s not too late to address the damage, as the Labour Party has been significantly weakened. Will this ruling bring back former members? Will it reinvigorate those currently with us? These are uncertainties we must discuss.”
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions also disclosed that his committee has received over 300 petitions since the start of the 10th National Assembly. He added that approximately 20 petitions have been processed, with others nearing completion.
