A female aspirant, Mrs Omobolanle Sarumi, has declared her intention to contest for governor in Oyo State.
At a forum organised in Ibadan, she urged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to imbibe the peaceful nature of practising politics like MKO did, just as she implored then governments at all levels to accord more preference to women in politics.
She said this at the forum that organised by her foundation, BASA Foundation” set aside to recognise fallen heroes, who served their fatherland like the MKO Abiola.
“I hereby call on governments at all tiers to give women opportunities to participate and also help them in attaining optimum height in politics. Eschew political thuggery and embrace politics of peace like Chief MKO Abiola practised,” Sarumi said

Sarumi also said, “I want us to change the face of politics we play here in Nigeria. The children of the politicians will not be used by any politician as political thugs, and I am urging all of you youths that are here today to desist from fighting for politicians.
“Let the government that is mainly for the people get our votes come 2019, and I urge you all to get your voter cards ahead 2019, because your voter card is your power to choose whoever that will be your leader,” she said.
She used the occasion to declare her ambition as gubernatorial aspirant for Oyo in the 2019 election.
