As Muslims across the world observe fasting in the holy month of Ramadan, an Osogbo-born philanthropist, Ibrahim Kayode, has commenced the feeding of less privileged in Osun State.
The initiative aimed to provide daily meals for 3,000 people till the end of Ramadan.
Addressing newsmen on Monday in Osogbo, Kayode said the initiative was to sustain the legacy of his late father.
He noted that the gesture has no political undertone, adding that members of different political parties benefited from the initiative.
He said, “Ramadan is not the only period I give out to the society. I give out during other festive periods. This is a legacy for me. I was a very young boy when my dad died, and from history, I was told he always gave to the needy when he was alive. So, I’m trying to sustain his legacy.

“I’ve been giving out to the needy for over a decade now. I started this from my dad’s house before I moved to this present location. We are going to feed people from the first day of Ramadan to the last day.
“On a daily basis, we cater for more than 3,000 people and that is how we will feed them till the end of Ramadan. I’m doing this to help the needy without any strings attached.
“This has nothing to do with politics. Members of different political parties come here and we give them what we have.”
Kayode urged well-meaning Nigerians to assist the needy during this holy month and beyond.
“I want to appeal to Nigerians who have the capacity to do this kind of thing to also help the needy,” he stated.
