Ramadan, one of the Five Pillars of Islam, is when Allah (SWT) revealed the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad. It is a time of blessings and reflection for Muslims, young and old.
For children and young people to benefit from this one-month spiritual journey, they must understand what is required of them and act accordingly.
As a toddler or a young person, the Ramadan period can be fun and educational. Therefore, a well-planned Ramadan schedule for children is necessary to help them understand the importance of participating willingly and reap the blessings that come with it.
Children enjoy the fasting month when they know what comes next. A daily routine helps them understand the rhythm of the month, making the experience reassuring and enjoyable.
Before Ramadan starts, some family goals should be set to give children a sense of purpose and direction. These include picking achievable objectives for the month that everyone can follow; focusing on quality, not quantity; choose activities that build lasting habits instead of overwhelming the children; and encouraging children to participate in setting goals so they feel ownership and excitement.

Fasting can seem tricky for children, but telling them about it will help them focus on being kind and thankful, and also letting them participate in meal preparations for Iftar can help them understand and fast with much less problem.
In this Ramadan period, children should be encouraged to show good manners, pray regularly, read short surahs daily, and learn one Islamic fact per day.
Ramadan is a good time and opportunity to teach children important values such as love, kindness, truthfulness, patience, gratitude, charity, family bonding, and many more.
These goals, activities, and values will help children connect spiritually, socially, and emotionally to the essence of Ramadan.
