A new political platform, the African Action Group (AAG), has formally commenced its nationwide membership registration and grassroots mobilisation.

The group declared its intention to redefine Nigeria’s leadership culture around competence, integrity and measurable progress.

In a statement on Friday night, the Founder and National Chairman of the group, Otunba Abdulfalil Abayomi Odunowo, announced that the movement has begun activating structures across all states, local government areas, wards and polling units in the country.

He described the development as “the beginning of a historic national movement,” insisting that the initiative goes beyond the routine formation of another political party.

According to him, this is not just the formation of a political party, but the foundation of a new future for Nigeria.

Explaining criteria for selecting coordinators of the group, Odunowo said they were chosen based on their proven integrity, capacity and commitment to national development.

He directed them to immediately activate both digital and grassroots structures within their areas of responsibility, noting that further directives would be communicated through official channels.

Furthermore, Odunowo emphasised that the movement is built on three core principles — competence, integrity and progress — which he said are essential to rebuilding public trust in governance and restoring accountability in public service.

While the group is yet to unveil detailed policy positions, Odunowo maintained that the mission is to foster a merit-driven leadership culture anchored on transparency and responsibility at all levels of government.

He added that beyond registration and mobilisation, the group will need to demonstrate ideological clarity, organisational strength and national appeal to compete meaningfully.
