Aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State stormed the national secretariat of the party, on Thursday, to protest over the emergence of Honourable Babayo Aliyu as the Chairman of the party in the North-East state.
The leader of the group, Maigari Ishaku, described the State Congress that produced Honourable Aliyu as a charade.
Addressing newsmen, Alhaji Ishaku alleged that the Minister of Education, Honourable Adamu Adamu, manipulated the process for his anointed choice, Babayo Aliyu.
He further claimed that Alhaji Aliyu Kunde won the Congress.
Ishaku appealed to the Yobe State governor and Chairman APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni to ensure that Babayo Aliyu was removed, as he further accused the Minister of Education of undermining cohesion in the Bauchi state chapter of the party.
He said: “Imposition will bring the downfall of APC in the coming election. We lost in 2019 because of the internal bickerings. Some of the chieftains are wolves in sheepskin. They are working for PDP.
“We are calling on Caretaker Chairman, Governor Buni to come and intervene. He stands for honesty and that’s why he was nominated to come and manage the party.
‘We had earlier alerted the party on what is going to happen. We are appealing to Buni to please come to the aid of APC in Bauchi and save us from Adamu Adamu. There is no reason for anyone to sit on the fence. Alhaji Aliyu Kunde won the Congress.”
