The Nigeria Police, Kaduna State Command, has disclosed the arrest of 25 suspects involved in violent attacks on government agencies.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the Command’s Spokesman, made this known on Thursday, noting that some of the apprehended individuals are members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN).
The Police recovered some items from the suspects including an AK-47 rifle, live ammunition, a jackknife, and a police camouflage uniform. Some of the arrested individuals were found in possession of these items, raising concerns about the extent of the planned violence.
The arrests come amid heightened tensions and ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests in Kaduna, which have seen a series of violent incidents targeting government buildings and officials.
According to the police, security has been beefed up and efforts strengthened to maintain order and prevent further destruction of public property.
ASP Hassan emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and warned against any actions that could exacerbate the situation. He urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement officers, assuring them that the police are committed to safeguarding lives and property.
The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of their involvement in the attacks. The Kaduna State Police Command reiterated its dedication to bringing all culprits to justice and ensuring the safety of all residents.
