Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), has emphasised that prayers remain crucial in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges, dismissing claims that prayer efforts have been ineffective.
Leader of MFM media committee, Bosun Oluwabusayomi made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the media committee to The PUNCH Place, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Wednesday.
He noted that without the continuous prayers of the church, the nation would have been in a much worse state.

“People question the outcome of prayers, but if not for prayers, this country would have gone down. Prayer is still crucial. We must continue to pray for God to intervene in the issue of security and other challenges facing Nigeria,” he said.
He also acknowledged the role of the United States Government’s designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, saying it spurred action from the Federal Government, but stressed that spiritual intervention remains essential.
Oluwabusayomi highlighted the church’s commitment under the leadership of General Overseer Dr. D. K. Olukoya, saying that the church maintains a continuous prayer disposition despite controversies.
He dismissed recent reports aimed at tarnishing the church’s image as deliberate and inconsequential, asserting that the General Overseer remains focused on praying for Nigeria and countering evil agendas.
“Most of the things flying around in the media are attempts to paint the church black. The disposition of the General Overseer is always, ‘Is this the issue?’ Soldiers and warriors of Christ will not give up. Prayer remains our resolve,” he added.
Addressing controversies surrounding the church, Oluwabusayomi described the ongoing UK Charity Commission inquiry as a routine regulatory process and accused mischief-makers of singling out MFM to sensationalise the matter.
He also refuted allegations made by a former church minister, Mrs. Funke Ashekun, regarding intimidation and sexual misconduct, describing them as fabrications propagated by purveyors of fake news.
Responding to claims that former tricycle operators at the church camp were disengaged without compensation, Oluwabusayomi clarified that they were offered roles as drivers of newly acquired buses, but some declined.
He added that many beneficiaries had prospered, building houses and educating their children, yet some have resorted to media attacks against the church.
The media visit, Oluwabusayomi said, was part of a familiarisation tour aimed at strengthening engagement and fostering better relations with the press.
