The Iheagwa Police Divisional Headquarters, Owerri, has arrested two men for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl identified as Onyemetu Anurika
The arrest of the two men came following the reporting of the case at the Police Division by the father of the victim, who hails from Umuakunta, Umuoduagu in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State on 10th August 2023.
In a statement issued in Owerri by the Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer ASP Henry Okoye said that the two suspects were identified as a 42-year-old Abalake Chika, native of Umuokochi, Umuezeawula, in Ihiagwa, Owerri West LGA of Imo State and Uchenna Jude, 25yrs of Umuakuntu, in Ngor-Okpala LGA of Imo State
He said that the duo suspects, who were alleged of severally having unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor in her father’s house any time he went to work, are cooling their heels at the Division’s custody, where a preliminary investigation is ongoing.
The PPRO said that, subsequently, they will be transferred to SCIID Owerri for the continuation of a discreet investigation.
Meanwhile, according to him, medical reports revealed that the victim has a severe injury in her vulva as a result of defilement, and the minor has opened up to her father and the Police narrating how the duo suspects defiled her repeatedly.
Okoye promised to communicate to the public about further development on this case.
