The Yobe State Police Command is actively pursuing a suspected armed robber who assaulted a woman and stole her cellphone.
According to a Crime Update provided by the PPRO, DSP Abdulkarim Dungus, the Command strongly condemns the recent attack on an innocent civilian by an unscrupulous individual and is determined to swiftly apprehend the culprit.
Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, expressed his dismay at the violent actions of the assailant and has instructed for his immediate arrest, urging law enforcement to locate him without delay.
On the evening of April 27, 2024, around 9:30 PM, the victim was walking home along Malari bypass after closing her shop in the Jerusalem area of Damaturu when she was suddenly assaulted from behind.
The PPRO further explained that upon reaching Damaturu City Academy, the assailant attacked the victim, stabbing her in the lower back with a locally made jackknife before forcibly taking her cellphone and fleeing the scene.

An alarm was raised attracting Police attention, on arriving the scene, Police Response Unit rushed her to the Hospital and is currently receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital, recuperating fast.
Meanwhile, the Command has deployed all available means to arrest the perpetrator and bring him to book.
In this regard, the Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, enjoined members of the communities to be conscious of their surroundings from hoodlums lurking around.
