Gombe State Police Command on Friday paraded five suspected criminals arrested for alleged armed robbery and assisting in concealment.
The arrested and paraded suspects are: Mohammed Jami’u, aged 28 of Bolari Quarters, Ibrahim Isah, alias Maters, 25 also of Bolari Quarters, Al’amin Adamu, alias Dan Madam, aged 22 of Tudun Wada; Shamsudden Mohammed, alias Don, aged 20; and Usman Yahaya, alias Imamu, aged 20.
ASP Buhari Abdullahi, the Command Police Public Relations Officer, acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Gombe State, states that five other suspects are at large.
According to him, on the 01/09/2024, at about 0400hrs, information was received through a good Samaritan, resident of Ladunakasha quarters, within Billiri LGA.
The information revealed that an unknown person, numbering about eight, armed themselves with cutlasses and went and attacked individuals in the Nigerian Christian Fellowship Copper Lodge and some houses at Awai, Golkos, Bakin Kasuwa, and Ladukansha quarters in Billiri LGA, respectively, and robbed them of their valuables.
On the receipt of the information, a well-coordinated night operation was swiftly formed by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Sanda Umar, and swung into action, draughted to the scene, and cordoned the area/gullies.
In the process, the above-mentioned suspects were arrested in connection to the alleged crime.
The exhibits recovered from the suspects include two laptops, twenty mobile phones, three power banks, three touch lights, one rechargeable hand fan, four pairs of women’s sandals, five ATM cards, and the sum of 224,700.00, one (1) charm, and three (3) cutlasses.
The PPRO stressed that, “However, during the course of the investigation, the suspects have confessed to an alleged offence, and they further stated that they’re responsible for the robbery case that took place on the 27/08/2024 at the PZ commercial area in Gombe LGA, Gombe State.
Also in the house of one Hon. Mohammed Magaji Gettado, where they forcefully robbed them of the following items: six GSM phones of different products, the sum of N380,000, 209 Saudi Arabia, some riyals, and an FCMB ATM card worth N538,000.
The suspects are said to have confessed to the crimes and will soon be charged to court for prosecution.
