At least one person was injured in multiple accidents that happened on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway along NASFAT roundabout on Sunday.
The crashes, which occurred around 7 a.m., involved two trucks and four other vehicles, leading to gridlock and stranding motorists.
Officials from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nigeria Police Force were at the scene, working to manage traffic, clear the wreckage, and assist those affected.
TRACE Commander for the Mowe-Ibafo axis, Mr. Kabir Ojerinde, while providing details of the incident, said collision when a trailer driver attempted to avoid colliding with a smaller vehicle.
He said, “According to an eyewitness, the crash occurred when a trailer travelling from Lagos tried to avoid colliding with a smaller vehicle attempting to cross at the NASFAT roundabout. In the process, the trailer lost control and crashed into several vehicles at the turning.”

“Emergency responders, including TRACE, the Police, and the FRSC, are currently on site, working to clear the wreckage,” Ojerinde added.
One of the trucks, heavily loaded with watermelons, was moved off the road to ease traffic flow.
While exact cause of the accident has not been confirmed, speeding and poor visibility were cited as possible factors.
