PEPC Judgement: Nigeria will not divide because Tribunal didn’t favour Obi — Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has stated that Nigeria will continue to exist as one entity despite the fact that the judgment of the Presidential Election Tribunal did not go in favor of the Presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi.

Tribune Online reports that the PEPC Tribunal on Wednesday passed judgment on the three petitions challenging the declaration of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.

At the sitting in Abuja, the PEPC Tribunal affirmed Tinubu’s victory and dismissed the three petitions against the Nigerian president.

The court also rejected 10 out of the 13 witnesses that were presented by Peter Obi.

Reacting to the Tribunal’s judgment via his official X (Formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, Omokri said the judgment will not, in any way, lead to the division of the country.

According to him, the fact that the judgment did not go in the way of Obi does not mean the judiciary is compromised, adding that the judgment is also not an indication that Nigeria has failed as a nation.

He said, “Nigeria is not a failed nation because Peter Obi lost. Our judiciary is not compromised simply because they did not make the third-place loser the winner. Your curses that Nigeria will never know peace for ‘cheating’ the people’s choice will return to haunt you and your community.

“God will NOT punish those who did not vote for Peter Obi. Nigeria will not divide because the learned justices did not decide in Obi’s favour. And finally, there will be no coup. Our country’s democracy will continue to thrive. This country is greater than the Obidient movement. Your movement will die, and Nigeria will live on and be blessed!”
