The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday lashed out at Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed, describing him as “unstable” amid the deepening crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike spoke during an inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects across Abuja, where he dismissed allegations that he was “planted” to destabilise the PDP.
Reacting to Mohammed’s claims, the former Rivers State governor described the allegation as “embarrassing,” accusing the Bauchi governor of political inconsistency.

“It’s very embarrassing. He tells you one thing today, he says one thing in the morning, in the afternoon he says a different thing. Bala, we are very happy that you told Nigerians who you are, that you’re never stable,” Wike said.
He further alleged that Mohammed had previously engaged with the All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming the governor once visited Port Harcourt in 2022 to lobby for Bola Ahmed Tinubu before later switching allegiance.
Addressing the lingering PDP crisis, Wike insisted that the party remains “alive and kicking” despite internal disagreements and legal challenges.
He also criticised Mohammed’s reported demand for the position of National Secretary, describing it as unrealistic.
“You’re already conquered, you lost. You’re talking with a weak point and you want to demand Secretary? That is not done,” he said.
Wike reiterated his commitment to the PDP while maintaining his support for President Tinubu.
“I have said I will not leave PDP. I have said that I will continue to support Mr President. We will make our points in 2027 and from there we move on,” he added.
The minister, who inspected projects handled by CGC, Arab Contractors, and Gilmor, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, particularly at the interchange and the Airport Road–Kuje junction.
He disclosed that the projects are expected to be ready for inauguration by May 2026 to mark the third anniversary of the Tinubu administration.
“The job ought to be handed over latest by the end of May. We will continue to put pressure to ensure timely delivery,” Wike said.
He also commended contractors for providing alternative routes for residents during construction, noting that public satisfaction remains a key priority of his administration.
