The National Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Adenike Ogunshe, has expressed confidence that the party’s governorship candidate in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, will win the 2027 governorship election.
Ogunshe stated this on Thursday during a thank-you visit to Adebutu and other PDP leaders in Abeokuta for choosing a woman, Alhaja Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo, as the party’s deputy governorship candidate.
She said the PDP was preparing for the 2027 general elections with a clear strategy.
According to her, the party understands the needs of Ogun residents and would ensure that the benefits of democratic governance reach communities across the state if elected.
“We believe strongly in our mission, and when women believe in something, they commit themselves fully to it,” Ogunshe said.
She described Adebutu as a candidate who had benefited from the experience of the party’s national leaders, grassroots members and women.
“We have our strategies, and we have what it takes to move Ogun to greater heights.
“Every administration that has governed Ogun has contributed in one way or another, but we believe we have additional value to offer — value that Ogun State has not experienced before,” she said.

Ogunshe urged Ogun residents and Nigerians to support the PDP in the 2027 elections.
“This is a party Nigerians have loved and supported because, when the PDP was in leadership across Nigeria, many Nigerians felt hopeful and optimistic about the future, and we must return to that position once again,” she said.
She added that the party’s women leadership was working with PDP diaspora groups to support the party’s candidates across the country.
Ogunshe also said Nigerian women were among those most affected by the country’s economic challenges and commended the party for selecting a woman as its deputy governorship candidate in Ogun State.
Responding, Adebutu thanked the PDP National Woman Leader and her delegation for the visit.
He said women remained critical to national development, noting that his choice of a female running mate reflected the contributions of women and complied with constitutional provisions.
Adebutu urged residents not to “sell their future” but to vote for PDP candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The PDP deputy governorship candidate, Alhaja Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo, said she was encouraged by the acceptance she had received from residents of the state.
Also speaking, the Ogun State PDP Woman Leader, Mrs. Titilola Adeyemi, appealed to residents to support the PDP in the next election.
The delegation included the PDP women leaders from Lagos State, Mrs. Kehinde Olojede; Ekiti State, Mrs. Ayodele Bose; and Ondo State, Mrs. Adebisi Funmilola.
The visit featured the presentation of gifts to Adebutu by the PDP National Woman Leader.
