The acting National Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Phase 2, Ibena Rufus Salvation, has called on the Interim Administrator, Maj. Gen. Barry Ndiomu, and the general public to disregard reports by some ex-agitators who claim to have been elected as the new Phase 2 national body executive.
Ibena made the call in Yenagoa on Thursday while reacting to an online publication by John Esuku, Julius Belemu, Demaro Vwaghie, Passman Akpos, and Gift Agamene, where they alleged to be the newly elected Phase 2 national body executive.
He also noted that John Esuku and his cohorts are not in any way fighting for the interest of the group but are allegedly sponsored by selfish politicians—enemies of progress who are not qualified but want to take over the office by all means.
According to Ibena, the authentic Phase 2 executive, recognized by the Presidential Amnesty office and led by the National Chairman, Olotu Nwanemi, is still existing and intact. He added that the self-proclaimed new national body executive is not recognized.
He said, “Our National Chairman, Olotu Nwanemi, remains the chairman even though he is not on the ground at the moment. Ibena Rufus Salvation is acting on behalf of the executive, Charles Akatakpo is the Vice Chairman, Clement Wodo is the Secretary-General, and Timothy Tensibe is the acting spokesman.
“The public should disregard the publication they made claiming they are the new executive body. It is not done anywhere, and our executive is intact, working, functioning towards the benefit of every member in Phase 2.
“The 6166 members of Phase 2 Presidential Amnesty beneficiaries should disregard every publication made by John Esuku and his members. We remain intact, authentic, and are the only body recognized by the Presidential Amnesty office. Don’t forget that if your executive is not recognized by the Interim Administrator and the office, you are nowhere to be found.
“So, they should not deceive themselves. Nobody knows them as the executive members until the tenure of Olotu Nwanemi and his executive expires. That is when, unanimously, every leader will come together and get a new body elected.
“So, three or four persons going to Abuja and hiding themselves in one small kitchen where they are frying Akara and making themselves the executive body will never stand and will never happen.”
