OVER 3,000 homegrown food vendors from the 33 local government in Oyo state on Wednesday morning engaged in a rally in support of President Muhammadu Buhari/Professor Yemi OSinbajo second term bid.
The vendors, in their professional uniform assembled at the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Obafemi Awolowo stadium junction, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, as early as 8.00am and walked through Molete/Idi-Arere/Oja’ba road.
The vendors commended President Buhari for the introduction of homegrown food scheme which they said has not only to assist the primary school pupils to focus more on their education but has also improve the economy of the vendors and the Agric producers.
The Coordinator of the project for Oyo state, Mrs Toyosi Ajobo, in an interview with journalists before the team took off on the road walk said “we thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for engaging us as parents in the homegrown food scheme. This has afforded us the opportunity to be responsible economically in our various homes to cater for our own children and households.
“This scheme is an encouragement for all of us that are involved. It is also an encouragement for our pupils in primary schools who have been very encouraged to come to school in large numbers because of the scheme. This has also increased pupils’ enrollment in school because the scheme is real.

“As vendors with over 3,000 members, we decided that since we are beneficiaries of the homegrown food scheme we should show our support for the re-election of president Buhari and his vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s second term bid.”
Also, the financial secretary of the association, Mrs Bola Ajagbe commended the state governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi for accepting to host the scheme in his state.
She said: “For Oyo state to be considered one of the first seven states where the pilot scheme was launched, Mr Governor must be commended for making this happen in his state.”
Mrs Ajagbe also expressed appreciation to both the Federal government and the Oyo state government for allowing those who are not politicians to benefit from the scheme. She noted this was one of the reasons that the scheme is successful.
