Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has restated that the negotiation between the state government and bandits aimed at addressing acts of banditry in the state is still ongoing
Tambuwal stated this on Tuesday while receiving the acting GOC 8 Division Sokoto, Brigadier General Aminu Bande who paid him a courtesy visit at government house, Sokoto.
The governor prayed that with the help of God, acts of banditry being perpetrated in the state would soon be a nip in the bud.
He, therefore, assured the continuous support and cooperation of the Government and people of the state to the Nigerian Army for the effective discharge of their duties.
While congratulating the acting GOC on his well-deserved appointment, Tambuwal expressed optimism that his vast experience would bear in finding a lasting solution to the current security challenges confronting the zone
He, however, emphasized confidence that the GOC would replicate his Buni yadi act of gallantry in the division.
Speaking earlier, the acting GOC of the 8th Division Sokoto, Brigadier General Aminu Bande assured of the division’s resolve to confront the kidnapping, cattle rustling and banditry in the zone head-on.

He thanked the state government for the support to the Nigerian Army as a result of which the 8 division became a reality and urged for the sustenance of the peace deal initiated earlier in Katsina.
