Osun APC: Party members pursued as gunmen invade party secretariat

Members of the Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that stormed the party secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital, on Saturday with petitions against the conduct of the last ward congress in the state narrowly escaped being killed by armed thugs who invaded the secretariat with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.

The APC members were given a hot chase by the armed men who operated freely as if they were in a conquered territory.

The thugs who laid siege at the premises of the party office went berserk and shot indiscriminately into the air with an order to all party members to vacate the place immediately.

The committee members of the party who were sent from the party national secretariat to entertain aggrieved party members complaints also had to flee as the venue was completely thrown into disarray by the fierce-looking invaders who took possession of the vicinity.

The development saw party members running helter-skelter to escape from the attackers.

Some of them had to scale the fence of the party secretariat; others escaped through the main gate while some are still hiding in the secretariat as at the time of filing in this report.

Many party members were manhandled and mercilessly beaten by the invaders while the committee members were rescued by the security men.

One of the party members (name withheld) who was visibly shaken while speaking with Tribune Online, said it seemed as if he was dreaming when things fell apart at the party secretariat. He frowned on the development which he described as wicked, inhuman and callous.
