The letter, dated May 25 and marked SH/AG.PRESIDENT/House/02/6 was read on the floor of the House on Tuesday by the Speaker.
The correspondence was entitled: “Re: Federal Executive Council Approval of the 2016-2018 external borrowing (rolling) plan.
The acting president maintained that “the request for the separation of the states projects from the list became imperative in view of the current economic realities in the country and the pressing needs of these states to provide infrastructural and social amenities for their citizens. The total loans for the states being presented for special consideration and approval is $1,492,4000,000.00.”
As listed in the letter, loan for World Bank assisted project, Kaduna State Development Policy Operation had $350 million, while Ogun State Development Policy Operation got $350 million.
Under African Development Bank, Ebonyi Ring Road Project to be co-financed with Islamic Development Bank, was $70 million, while rural access and mobility project for Abia State, had $100 million.
Loan from Islamic Development Bank, Health System project for Kastina state, $110 million, integrated rural development project, Jigawa State $32.4 million, ring road project to be co-financed with AfDB, Ebonyi State, $80 million and integrated agricultural and water resources development, Kano State, $200 million.
The French Development Agency with $200 million worth loan would fund the third National Urban water sector reform project, (NUWSRP-III) for Enugu, Kano, Plateau and Ondo states.
