ACTING President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and the Guinea Bissau President, Mr Umaro Embalo, held discussion in Kaduna, on Thursday, with both leaders promising to strengthen security, economic and political ties betwen the two countries.
The two leaders met at the Nigeria Airforce base, Mando, Kaduna, on Thursday.
Speaking with journalists shortly after their discussion, Osinbajo said that “I’m sure you are familiar with Nigeria’s engagement with Guinea Bissau.
“We are collaborating in every possible trend. As I said, Guinea Bissau and Nigeria have been partners and friends for a very long time.
“We are very actively involved and we collaborate with Guinea Bissau on economic, security and even political issues as you can see. And that’s why this consultation has taken place.
“As partners and brothers in progress, we are trying to ensure that Guinea Bissau is stable and that its people are happy and governed properly.
On his part, the Guinea Bissau President said, “I came to Nigeria to visit the president and then to seek advice from our friend and brother from Nigeria.
“You know that our relationship with Nigeria is not today, it was during our struggle and liberation. Nigeria is always supporting us and that is why I am here to explain to the acting president about the political situation in Guinea Bissau. “We will work together in the aspect of politics, security and economy,” he said.
