No fewer than eight suspected armed robbers, cultists and drug peddlers have been arrested and a kidnap victim rescued at various parts of Delta State.
The criminal suspected were arrested by arrested operatives of the Nigeria Police, Delta State Command between October 15 and 18, 2021.
Three of the suspects, Abubakar Usman, 30, Ibrahim Sani, 28, and Mohammed Bello, 24, were arrested at a black spot at Ugbuwangue, Warri South Local Government Area with 11 sachets of tramadol, three bottles of codeine syrup, one sachet of swinol and 54 wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
At Ughelli – Warri road, Ughelli, Eagle Net Patrol team, while on a stop-and-search duty intercepted a commercial Vinto car with Reg. No. UGH 14 ND with six occupants, arrested two of the occupants: Kelly Ogoja, 35, whom a locally-made pistol was recovered from and Joseph Samuel, 26.
Two cult suspects in red caps and customized t-shirt, Davidson Umukoro, 22, Awe Clever, 38, and Iwaire Success, 22, were arrested along Ajagbodudu road and under the palm trees near Patos hotels in Oghara respectively.
Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, in a statement, police operatives rescued a kidnap victim, Oghenero Iboyitete, from his abductors in a bush at Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area.
Edafe, who confirmed all the incidents, said efforts have been intensified to apprehend fleeing suspects and discreet investigation and prosecution.
