THE crisis rocking Isolo community in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Tuesday took another dimension, as some kingmakers from the community insisted that the Regent, Princess Adebusola Abisoye Oluwatuyi, cannot return to the palace
The kingmakers also stated that the regent has no rights and privileges to be addressed as the traditional head of Isolo community after the installation of a new king.
The kingmakers who stated this in Akure, the state capital, during a Press Conference, described the return of the regent to the throne as sacrilegious after the installation of a new monarch, Oba Edward Adewole.
Speaking on behalf of the Isolo Council of Chiefs, the Prime Minister of the community, Joshua Omotayo said it was unheard of in the history of Yoruba that a regent who had vacated the palace would return after a substantive monarch has been appointed.
Some traditional kingmakers led by the Elemo, Chief Ibukun Adetoyinbo had directed the newly installed monarch to vacate the palace and allow the regent, Princess Adebusola Oluwatuyi to resume duty as the head of the community pending the determination of a suit before the Supreme Court.
The kingmakers had threatened to stop all traditional rites of the monarch while he will be stopped from performing the traditional new yam festival.
However, the Isolo Council of Chiefs headed by Omotayo (the Lisa) and the Traditional Prime Minister described those who issued and signed the statement as impostors, saying one of them has been deposed as a chief of the community.
Omotayo said there is a substantive monarch who has the recognition of Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi and whose ascendancy to the throne was not been challenged in any law court.
He said “It is on record that the said regent Adebusola Oluwatuyi went through the necessary rites that every regent of Isolo must perform when the time of regency lapses.
“These rites were conducted on her according to the tradition and custom of the ancient Isolo Community. The attempt by Adebusola Oluwatuyi to want to come back is a taboo and it is unheard of in the entire Yoruba land.”

He, however, said the community has been peaceful without any form of protest or fracas since the new monarch ascended the throne and has continued to perform his duties as traditional head of the community.
He said “The impostors who termed themselves Kingmakers of Isolo headed by Mr Ibukun Adetoyinbo has no right to refer to himself as Chief Elemo because he had been deposed of his chieftaincy title since 3rd of July 2018 due to gross misconduct and abuse of office.
“The entire Isolo Council of Chiefs under the supervision of Chief Joshua Omotayo want the government and general public to know that the stool of Osolo of Isolo is no longer vacant and that the stool was never at any time being a subject of contention in the court of law as there is no litigation on the stool because the matter under reference has been dismissed since 2015, therefore there is no life suit in court over the said stool.
“The argument that the former regent Adebusola Oluwatuyi is standing in as appellant representing Osolo at the Supreme Court is inconsequential because she had been relieved of her duty on the 20th April 2018. The Community has since installed a substantive traditional head.”
