Prophet Joseph Ologbonyo, the planter of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Boanerges Worldwide, has expressed deep concern over the sharp decline in societal values, urging Nigerian youths to abandon the get-rich-quick mentality.
Addressing journalists in Ise-Ekiti, Ologbonyo lamented the alarming rate at which some youths pursue illicit wealth, stressing the urgent need for a moral rebirth.
He cautioned Nigerian youths against acts of desperation in their quest for money, emphasizing the importance of patience and integrity.
“We all agree that life is a process, but our youths are skipping this process, leading to mental derailment,” he said. He criticized the trend of young girls engaging in transactional relationships with older men and warned against adopting morally questionable practices seen in other countries.
Ologbonyo shared a personal experience to highlight the dangers of illicit wealth. “I prayed for someone who went to Malaysia for school. Three months later, he wanted to bring me gifts, including a car. I questioned the source of his money and refused his gifts when he couldn’t provide a satisfactory answer, suspecting it was blood money. I advised his mother to have him sell the car and donate the proceeds to the needy, urging him to earn money genuinely.”
He further condemned the erosion of values, such as youths engaging in money rituals and other diabolical acts.
“Contentment prevents many problems, but some people die while pursuing personal quests. Our value system is destroyed. Parents should discipline their children, especially regarding inappropriate clothing and behaviours. We need to address these issues rather than celebrate questionable achievements.”
Ologbonyo called for a return to traditional values and accountability, particularly when young people display sudden wealth without clear sources. “We must question and guide our youths to ensure they follow the right path,” he concluded.
