Nollywood actress, Debbie Shokoya, has reacted to reports linking her to singer Abass Akande also popularly known as Obesere as his daughter.
The story began when rumours spread online over the weekend, claiming what she had allegedly said about her parentage. It suggested that Debbie had kept the information private for years before revealing it.
In response, the actress shared a video on Instagram on Monday to explain that she has never met Obesere while also denying any family connection to him.
Debbie also addressed the impact the rumours had on her, expressing concern about how quickly the story circulated. She called on bloggers and social media users to stop sharing unverified information.

“It is not funny anymore; the news is everywhere. I have never met Obesere before, and you claim I said he’s my biological father? Don’t I look like my father? Am I not my biological father’s replica?
“Obesere is not my biological father. Please stop spreading fake news! Stop writing or posting things I never said. Some commentators do not even think well enough to know that these things are fake; they start to throw abuses.
“I’ve never said or written this, nor did I cry out as they claimed. Please stop spreading false news. Bloggers should also post this video the same way they were quick to jump on that misconception,” she said.
The actress also urged people to verify information before posting and avoid spreading rumours about her personal life.
