NYSC mourns death of three corps members in Nasarawa

NYSC National Youth Service Corps logoTHE National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Wednesday, mourn the death of three of its serving Corps members last Sunday.

Two of the deceased, Oguntola Wasiu Babatunde (NS/16B/4044) and Danjuma Jamil Salihu (NS/16B/0175), had drowned in a river at Assakio in Lafia East Development Area, where they had gone swimming.

The third deceased, Memunat Ahmad Yarwa (NS/16B/4280), died from complications during childbirth.

The NYSC in a statement in Abuja expressed sadness over the development saying: “The Management and staff of the National Youth Service Corps, as well as serving Corps members nationwide, mourn three of our compatriots, who died in Nasarawa State last Sunday.

“The entire NYSC family grieves over the loss of these heroes, especially coming when they were in their primes and contributing towards strengthening unity and national development.

“They will continue to be remembered for their patriotic zeal, selflessness, and dedication to the service of our fatherland.

“May the Almighty God grant them eternal rest.”

It also disclosed that the Management has sent officers to deliver condolence messages to the families.

“We stand by them in solidarity and prayers in this moment of grief.

“We also pray that God gives them the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses.”

It further confirmed the release of another Corps member, Nwankpa Blessing, who was kidnapped in Nasarawa State.

“Blessing is in good health and is being given all the necessary physical and psychological support.

“We thank the Nasarawa State Police Command for effecting the rescue of the Corps member,” it added.
