THE Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) will hold its National Delegate Conference in Kaduna from April 24 to April 26.
Mr Bunmi Ogunkolade, the union’s General Secretary, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja that the conference would deliberate on important pension issues and enhance the fight for pensioners’ rights
Ogunkolade said the conference would commence with the central working committee (CWC) meeting on April 24, the National Executive Council (NEC) would meet on April 25.
He said the conference and presentation of awards and a special Gala night would come up on April 26.
Ogunkolade said four leading states would be awarded for their great performance, while six governors would be awarded for paying pension up to date.
He said the states are Anambra, Lagos, Ogun, Plateau, Yobe and Jigawa.
According to Ogunkolade, the award for the six governors was based on grassroots information given to the national body.
The NUP general secretary said there would be election of new officials to carry on the work of the union for the next four years.
He said that over 420 delegates were expected at the conference.
