The issue of how to curb the challenge of cultism, kidnapping, drug abuse, rape was the rationale behind a one-day workshop organised by the Civil Defence College of Security Management, an arm of the NSCDC, in Abeokuta, last Thursday.
The workshop was organised in conjunction with the state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Academic Staff of Secondary Schools, Parents-Teachers Association and paramilitary agencies.
The sensitisation workshop, according to the Provost of the College, Mr Oluwasefunmi Awosusi, would expose the dangers inherent in these social vices.
“Social vices have become predominant issues across Nigerian institutions including primary schools. Among the social menace facing the nation include drug abuse, rape, kidnapping and cultism.
“It is expected that this paper on sensitization of school security management: The role of stakeholders in education sector in Ogun State will expose all categories of students and stakeholders to the dangers of the menace of these social vices,” Awosusi added.
