Notorious kidnappers arrested in Yobe

Two suspected notorious kidnapping syndicate members have been arrested by the Yobe State Police Command in a significant breakthrough to combat crimes and criminalities in the State.

The arrested two notorious kidnapping suspects are, Babaro Baushe and Umaru Dau’a who were apprehended on Wednesday, April 9.

The suspects, aged 40 and 25 respectively, are from Askuwari Village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area of the State.

Dapchi Divisional Police Headquarters at about 0500hrs, April 9, apprehended the suspects who are members of a gang specializing in kidnapping for ransom demanding with menace, operating in Dapchi and Tarmuwa LGAs.

The suspects have been linked to several crimes, including:- Attack on Badegana Village On November 21, 2024, the gang launched an attack on a victim’s house, resulting in a fatality.

Kidnapping and ransom collection, on March 10, the suspects forcefully collected N250,000 from Kudi Ibrahim of Askuwari Village, Tarmuwa LGA, after threatening to abduct or kill him.

They have confessed to their crimes, and investigation is ongoing at the State Investigation Department (SID).

Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, has directed further efforts to arrest other syndicate members and urged the community to provide credible information to aid in the investigation as contained in a statement by SP Dungus Abdukarim, Police Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Police Force Yobe State Command.
