Prophet Victor Omoyele is the General Overseer of Christ Love Family Ministry (CLOFAM), Ibadan, Oyo State. In this interview with OLAIDE SOKOYA, he speaks on the state of the nation, among other issues.
What is your view about the situation in the country?
It is a thing of concern that the situation in the country is becoming worse, especially for the average Nigerian. In fact, things are currently getting more terrible because of the economic policies of the Federal Government. It is becoming impossible for the common man to afford three square meals. It thinks the closure of the borders has also complicated issues. The government should as a matter of urgency find a last solution to this problem. The rice we are producing in Nigeria is not enough to feed the entire country. I know the government wants to promote locally-made produce and products, but it should be a gradual process. The government should re-strategise, because a hungry man is a desperate man. I know that Nigeria is a nation that is loved by God and that is the main reason Nigeria is still standing. With God, I know that Nigeria will overcome all the challenges we are facing at the moment. All what we need now is to pray to God against all the evil forces frustrating the progress the country. Our leaders should allow the Lord to transform the nation. The interest of the masses should be paramount to them. We should all join hands and pray for the peace and progress of Nigeria.
How do you think the government can handle the issue of insecurity bedeviling the nation?
It is the responsibility of all Nigerians and not the government alone. Nobody is safe in Nigeria again. Even we in the South-West should not relent, because kidnappers are around us. Also, the issue of Fulani herdsmen is still worrisome. Lives of many of Christians have been cut short the North almost on a daily basics. We should not relent in prayers because these are signs of the end time and I think the government should not relent in its efforts to put an end to the menace. The government should act fast in making sure that the security of Nigerians is not toyed with. The issue of security needs both physical and spiritual approach.
How do you think government can handle the high rate of youth unemployment in Nigeria?
I think the government should re-introduce technical education. Everybody cannot benefit from the white-collar job. Youths must be productive and creative. Youth should be self-independent. Also, government should introduce programmes for youths, programmes that will discourage them from involving in vices.
What are the challenges you have faced in the ministry?
You know CLOFAM is a ministry and not a church. We have a lot of members that come to fellowship with us from other churches. I have faced a lot of challenges in the course of discharging my duties to the Lord, but the beauty of it is that the person who called me is always with me. He is my pillar of support. God has been helping us to overcome all challenges.
What is your advice for Nigerians?
My advice for them is that they should continue to believe in God and pray for the growth of Nigeria. We should support our leaders with prayers. The peace of Nigeria is important to us all.
