Nigerians should support efforts put in place by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and all tiers of government to combat the global pandemic, COVID-19, the founder of Hope Also Need Help Foundation, Mr Abayomi Fagbenro, has said.
Fagbenro said these collaborative efforts would lead to quick elimination of the scourge in the country.
Fagbenro, a US-based navy veteran, made this known in a statement he issued on Wednesday, a copy of which was made available to the Tribune Online.
According to the statement, results are quickly achieved when all hands are on the deck.
“The lockdown and sit-at-home order can have adverse effects on the social and economic lives of the people, but this is just for a while. Endurance is the key. When people are alive and healthy, they can attain any height.”
While commending institutions, organisations, religious bodies and individuals who have donated in cash and kind towards combating the pandemic, Fagbenro said adherence to precautionary measures like keeping a metre distance from the other person, regular washing of hands, among others are equally effective in saving humanity from the pandemic.
The navy veteran advised the Federal Government to give special consideration to Oyo State just as it gave Abuja, Lagos and Ogun State in view of the fact that the state has the fourth-highest number of confirmed cases.
The navy veteran, a former House of Representatives contestant for Ibadan South West/ North West also urged the House of Representatives members to justify the mandates given to them by the electorate.
