The Nigeria ambassador to Hungary, Dr Eniola Ajayi, has said that citizens of Nigeria are getting the rightful opportunities to explore their talents through the deliberate efforts of the diplomatic mission in the foreign land.
Ajayi, a former Commissioner for Education in Ekiti State who spoke with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Wednesday, noted that her office in the last three years in the European country had placed values on the rights of Nigerians to go about their lawful activities without any form of hindrance.
The envoy who has just been cross-posted to the Netherlands revealed that no fewer than 50 slots of scholarship opportunities in Hungary were facilitated through her engagement with authorities in the country, saying Nigerians are contributing to the socio-economic growth of the country.
According to her, ” Knowing that the right of every Nigeria in the diaspora must be protected and preserved, I have created a situation that every Nigerian Hungary feels a sense of that mission and I have sought opportunities for Nigerians. I was able to get additional 50 scholarship slots in Hungary for our citizens. Most importantly, I have attracted to Nigeria a few Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) during my time as a diplomatic in the country.
“In order to make my job easier in the last three years, I have produced three publications which are on our investment opportunities, culture and tourism potential and the one showcasing Nigeria’s food availabilities.”
She expressed optimism that her new assignment in the Netherlands would help Nigeria economically, describing the European country as a ” long time trading partner of Nigeria with numbers of their investment in the country.”
Speaking on the insecurity situation in the country, Ajayi stressed the need for all stakeholders to come together and fashion out ways in addressing the situation.
While describing the present insecurity bedevilling the nation like a bad omen for economic growth, she maintained that foreign investors would find it extremely difficult to bring their investment to a country where ” security of lives and property is not guaranteed.”
Ajayi who participated in the ongoing registration and revalidation exercise of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) avered that it would further help in deepening democracy in the country.
She said,” Whoever said the APC registration is a shamble is totally ill-informed and a novice to the democratic process. This is the most authentic exercise we have done in the country in recent time.”
