Nigerian Breweries Plc has extended by two weeks the submission of entries by the interested applicants for this year’s edition of Maltina Teacher of the Year Award competition.
The new deadline is now Friday, August 4, instead of the initial Friday, July 21.
Corporate Affairs Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mrs. Sade Morgan, announced the extension in a statement in Lagos.
She said the extension is based on requests from many teachers nationwide calling for more time to enable them to file their applications for the competition.
Mrs. Morgan maintained that application remains free and open, just like the previous editions, to all secondary school teachers in both public and private schools nationwide.
The applicants, she pointed out, can visit the dedicated website given as www.maltinateacheroftheyear.
Mrs. Morgan explained that Maltina Teacher of the Year Award contest remains an effective social intervention program of Nigerian Breweries Plc geared towards improving the teaching profession and the education sector generally in the country.
She urged interested teachers who are yet to submit their entries to take advantage of the deadline extension to submit theirs, stating that the company is committed to continuing to reward hardworking and outstanding teachers through the competition.
Similarly, the first and second runner-up will receive a trophy and a total sum of N1.5 million and N1.25 million, respectively, while all the state champions will receive a plaque and a cash prize of N500,000 each.
The Maltina Teacher of the Year competition was introduced in 2015 and funded through the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, which was set up in 1994 to facilitate an active contribution to the development of the education sector in Nigeria in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal, SDG No.4.
Since inception, the competition has produced eight grand winners. They are Rose Nkemdilim Obi Anambra(2105), Imoh Essien Akwa Ibom (2016), Felix Ariguzo, Delta State (2017), Olasunkanmi Opeifa, FCT (2018), Ezem Collins FCT (2019).
